Artscape

Something that fits perfectly into this blog – Artscape. Artscape is a free arts festival held in Baltimore every summer for a few days. I had the privilege of travelling to Baltimore in the Summer of ’08 for Artscape. I had a wonderful time walking around the blocked off streets of Baltimore looking at people’s creations. There was every kind of art and craft imaginable for your eye’s to feast upon. From live graffiti art to oil paint on canvas’s selling for thousands. Basically it was a breeding ground of expressive thought and a place for the open mind. All of the artwork was very abstract and things I hadn’t seen before. The vibrant colors caught my eye and attracted me towards them as moths to a light. I would stand in front of a huge oil painting for 10 minutes maybe longer. There was also several stages set-up for live music performances and the bands were great and the tunes relaxing.

In a sense, Artscape was and is what it’s all about. Being expressive. Here are a few photographs from the fest – I highly recommend if you are in Baltimore to set aside a day or two to walk around this massive art festival.
